We are excited to announce that we now have regulatory permissions to offer a new in-house discretionary investment management service to our clients. We have a range of planned developments which will initially be focussed on offering exceptional value to individuals, businesses and trustees who are looking to access portfolios which reflect their chosen risk tolerance, via a more cost-effective solution.
A brief summary of the new service
For those unfamiliar with DFM and model portfolios, the former is a personalised investment management service usually only accessible to those with significant capital to invest from the outset. This, sadly, excludes many people and does not always deliver the outperformance it claims to offer. Our model portfolio service will offer clients an opportunity to access a range of pre-vetted investment opportunities within a chosen ‘model portfolio’ which reflects their risk tolerance, investment goals and time horizon. All of this is provided at a lower cost compared to much of what’s on offer amongst traditional DFM firms.
Why are we doing this now?
Our aim is to constantly improve the service offer to clients and add continuing value. By bringing control of portfolios in-house, we can ensure that model portfolios remain appropriate for each risk level, and by extension each client.
Outsourced solutions still suffer from a low level of accountability in the UK. By bringing things in-house, transparency between investment managers, advisers and clients can be greatly improved.
How will this benefit clients?
As mentioned above, value is critically important when it comes to the service we provide to our clients. Many people across the UK are paying more than is necessary for a DFM-style service, and we believe in offering cost-effective investment solutions aligned specifically to the client’s attitude to risk.
As advisers, we always have the client first in mind regarding decisions made within the portfolio and the service provided. Our investment objective is to maintain the appropriate level of risk for the client, not to recklessly chase returns. This new, in-house service facilitates our efforts in these respects, offering risk-targeted portfolios which help to ensure ongoing suitability for clients.
The other benefit of introducing this new in-house solution is that, with careful explanation, these portfolios are fairly easy to grasp. The passive investment style also reduces the level of charges the client’s investment faces, thus benefiting long-term returns.
